ConvertKit's pricing is all based on your number of subscribers. You're not paying for bells and whistles, you're just paying for the capacity of use.
There are a couple of higher level concierge features that you get when you have over 5000 or 7000 subscribers, but for most online businesses and bloggers out there, you're more than likely floating in between zero and 3000 subscriber mark. You're looking at $29 or $49 a month for your email marketing system, which is really a great deal!
ConvertKit knows you want safety and security when choosing something new for your business, which is why they offer a 30 day money-back guarantee. Pay for the first month, give it a try, and if you're not completely satisfied you can cancel and get a refund within the first 30 days.Read More
I've had a lot of people ask me lately, "How do I get better?" Specifically, in the realm of internet marketing. I'll be adding to this frequently, so check back often.
So, without further ado, I've categorized my favorite influencers by area of focus.
Andre Chaperon: I literally have read every email he has ever written...I think. The below link is his $297 course that I would reccomend over any other investment you make online. If I could pick only one investment, this would be it. Heck, you'll learn more from his sales page than most courses out there. Just watch this guy at least...he's a genius.
Neville Medhora: Easily the most practical teacher and down to earth mind when it comes to teaching us dummies how to write "kopy".
Josh Earl: This guy is a true talent and ghost writes for some of the best marketing minds on the world wide web.
CoSchedule: This group of minds is a fantastic well of tools and copy magic.
Direct Response Marketing Strategy - Funnel Experts
Dan Kennedy/GKIC - Dan is considered the "godfather of direct response marketing". Best known for his NO B.S. Guides To Marketing, he is truly one of the greatest marketers of our time. Make sure you grab this pioneers training at every chance you can consume it.
Russel Brunson: He's "one of us". Normal guy who uses his 10+ years of successful internet marketing learnings to guide us through funnel hacking and sales funnel success.
Perry Marshall: I call him the Doc Brown of internet marketing. He literally wrote the book on Good Adwords and I also read everything he sends out. His 80/20 platform has literally changed the way I run my business and teach others. Wow.
Perry's 80/20 Sales & Marketing Book(Free Book - I read this once every 3 months)
Digital Marketer: Ryan Deiss and crew. They spend millions in paid ads every year and show us all their learnings. Plus, they have some unreal resources. Don't miss their new podcast...
Email Marketing Genius
Andre Chaperon: I mentioned Andre above in the Copywriting section, but utlimately his ability to sell to tiny email lists(which is taught in ARM below) is his true super power. His ability to write easy to receive copy and mastermind "soap opera sequencing" is a deadly conversion combination.
Noah Kagan: I really like this guy. Great personality and uncanny email marketing skills. He also started SumoMe, an app you can install on your site to generate more leads. It's amazing.
Brian Harris: Brian is an incredible success story that everyone can relate with. He's a scientist of sorts and figure out how to do stuff(really well) then he shows you how to do it on his blog. Amazing content.
Content and Inbound Marketing Jedi Stuff
Neil Patel: Neil is world class when it comes to content marketing. Just by visiting his blog you get smarter. Literally, like when you land on his page you immediately get 50 IQ points added to your brain. I kid you not.
Fizzle: These guys live for us little guys. Entrepreneurs and small business owners everywhere are following these guys around like a parade marshall. They have the best chemistry on the planet that you can experience on their podcast, The Fizzle Show.
Fizzle Podcast - The Fizzle Show
Hubspot: Where Marketers Go To Grow...great tagline.
As I said, I'll be adding to this blog post often. Chime in below in the comments and let me know your favorite so I can add to the list too!
There is a unique thing to be grasped when it comes to marketing. Emotions. Specifically, igniting the emotions of a prospect by agitating the pain that they have. This pain, of course, is the symptom of a problem, obstacle or impasse that they face.Read More
Wanna quick trick that will help you add email addresses to your email list?
I've found a great partner that allows you to share great value while at the same time capture qualified email addresses for your email list.
It's called Sniply and you can get a free account here.
It's amazing. Here's how it works:
1. You see someone else post an amazing article or blog post...you decide to share it with the world.
2. You grab that URL and take it to your Snip.ly dashboard...I even use their Google Chrome Browser tool and it works like a charm. You enter your URL into the Snip.ly "Create Snip" bar at the top.
3. Click "create snip".
4. This bad boy pops up...
From here you can customize a short call to action and hit "Create".
Then you'll get this:
Grab that link and share it...and no matter what content you share, you'll have a sexy little call to action box on someone else's website to redirect and "steal" that traffic back to your desired landing page like this:
This is EASY traffic and GREAT qualification to build a healthy, clean list...the most important asset you can build in modern commerce.
The best part of this is that it allows you to CURATE content as much, if not a ton more, than you have to originate content. My site traffic spikes every time I use Snip.ly links because I share valuable stuff that other experts have written. That simply leads to further trust, loyalty and commitment from my followers.
Give this a shot. Sign up for Sniply today and give it a test drive. What's the worst that could happen, you get more traffic to your site for free?
Email Marketing Is Time Travel, Marty...How To Reach 88 MPH and Beyond By Cheating Time In Your Business
88 miles per hour.
That's the speed that Doc Brown told Marty he had to reach in the Delorean in order to time travel(see Back To The Future if you are confused at this point).
Doc had installed something special into the Delorean though... The Flux Capacitor. It WAS the secret. It was what "made time travel possible".
Obviously, time travel was Doc's #1 mission. He was obsessive.
As entrepreneurs and business owners, our mission is to create more and more customers with a service or product that makes their life better in some way.Read More
Why Nobody Takes Action When You Write - What They Won't Teach You In College About Copywriting and Persuasion
Show Don't Tell - Copywriting That Works
Language is at the heart of all action. If you're wondering how to get people to take action...
...it should come as no surprise that if you aren't persuasive, you can forget it.
By the way, everyone at all stations of life are trying to persuade someone of something.
Heck, anyone with small children understands this. Try convincing kids to eat the meal you cook or wear the clothes you picked out. Yeesh...
Having said that, persuasion is a MUST if you're selling something...it's a must because it drives revenue. Language matters and it often appears in it's most scalable format: copy.
Written word can be in many places at once when you can't.
So, how do you write in a persuasive way? This style must need a level of sophistication and mastery you don't currently have, right?
Persuasion isn't about the content of what you are saying so much as it is about the WAY you say it.
Show don't tell.
You need to light up the reader's mind. Animate the important. Contrast against the mundane.
Pictures that you can create in the mind of the reader will compel the caveman mind to act. SHOW them the way.
Copywriting is a vital tool in every marketing funnel.
Yet, here is the primary difference in showing and telling: the use of passive verbs and active verbs.
College Professors Are Terrible At Copywriting
Instead, we need to dumb it down. Distill your language to a point where the reader/listener doesn't have to think to understand it.
Passive verbs fuel sentences that need too much thought.
Active verbs take control of the mind and guide them to the writer's desired meeting spot.
Here's an example of passive writing that will get nobody interested in moving through your sales funnel:
"He was excited."
"John's eyes lit up like Time Square when he received the news that his brother Jim had rallied to win the match in overtime."
"Nancy was scared by the animal hiding in the trash."
"Nancy let out a scream that would quiet a banshee when the racoon appeared.
Good Copywriting Disqualifies Too
One of the worst things you could do is have an "all-inclusive" style of writing. Your copy shouldn't be a honeymoon resort where you can have as many fruity drinks as you wish.
Your copy should qualify and disqualify leads at the same time.
While you're writing...literally, while you are in the act...
...make sure you program alarms in your mind that will go off when you use dead words and phrases.
What do I mean?
If your copy doesn't run people off (who aren't interested in your product) something is wrong.
Push to have people on your email list or in your database that have the greatest potential of liking your product or service.
Everyone else, let them go clog up someone else's list.
EXAMPLE: Let's say you have a 6-week course for real estate agents...investment property agents...
"Try My Course For Real Estate Professionals Who Want To Sell More Houses and Find More Clients"
"Finally, A System That Makes Real Estate Agents Dominate The Property Investment Niche and Develop An Endless Supply of House Flippers To Sell To."
I'll take door number 2...if I'm a hungry real estate agent in the property flipping niche.
One tool that I love to use is http://www.hemingwayapp.com/.
It's a real time copywriting editor that will tell you what's wrong with your copy as you go. It will help you speak to the inner 4th grader with lazer like precision.
- Show Don't Tell
- Speak to the inner 4th grader
- Don't write like a college professor
- Dumb it down
- The more they have to think the less likely they are to convert
- Use brain torching copy to qualification leads and customers.
- Use active verbs, not passive verbs
Do you enjoy copywriting? If so, why? If not, why? Hit me up in the comments and let's talk about it.
Systems are great, unless you are the system. John runs a car dealership and he has a system. His system consists of him being customer service with a personal touch. It also consists of him generating sales leads. Oh, and it also consists of him managing inventory and closing sales.
His business is only as good as his personal capacity.
He notices that leads who visit or contact his dealership come in three forms: Tire Kickers, Price Shoppers or I Need A Car Immediately!
He loved the latter of the three the most. Wouldn't you? Yet, John spent as much if not more time with the Tire Kickers and the Price Shoppers as he did with the I Need A Car Now people.
This was not cost effective. His system looks like many systems out there.
Every time a new contact appeared, he had to qualify the lead himself...with his own brain in real time. He would try his best to use pre-written emails that he had created to help answer their questions based on their classification. He was doing a lot of one-to-one marketing.
But, John had a life too. He had a spouse, kids, civic responsibilities, hobbies and an all around zest for doing things that he loved.
His system did not accommodate for those things. A vacation was as foreign as the Theory of Relativity.
Are you in John's shoes? Or in a similar situation?
Let me help you...
Automated Marketing Is The Answer
If your sales cycle consists of you or you and another person always being present to do everything John does, then you are leaving TONS of money, and more importantly time, on the table.
A well thought out and crafted automated marketing system can be the difference maker.
Delegate to the machines people....
Within seconds of people visiting your website, seeing a Facebook Ad, engaging with your social media outlet or sending you an email, you can have them magically segmented into classifications. Then, an email pops up in the prospects inbox with a relevant message to them based on where they are qualified(Tire Kicker, etc).
This email is giving them valuable info as well as giving them a call to action. Call this the "racking the shotgun" email(You should watch this video from one of my marketing heroes, Perry Marshall...).
Then, periodically in the following days or weeks, they receive more emails that were pre-written and tailored to teach and convert based on the automatic qualification process they went through initially. You are taking them through the sales cycle without even being in the room.
Heck, you're now at that soccer practice, date with your spouse or long overdue vacation while your SYSTEM is doing the job.
Your family gets more of you.
Plus, your sales team is getting pre-qualified leads(they'll love that).
And your leads are getting fast answers to their questions and quick customer service...not to mention sales conversions happen in the email box...that's a definitive fact. Email is king.
Automated Marketing Conclusion
Email led automated marketing:
- Saves you time that you could use creating higher levels of money, value or experiences with.
- Makes your customers and your prospects much more happy.
- Allows your sales team to close more deals because leads are being vetted automatically instead of one by one.
Automated Marketing can work for any business. Whether you are a consultant, brick n mortar, retail, online or outer space....email marketing at the very least gets you maximizing the most important equity you can build and retain...TIME.
