I get questions all the time through my blog about affiliate marketing, and I just want to share a quick story with you and also just walk you through the recipe of what it takes to have a six-figure affiliate marketing business because it’s not as hard or as complicated as it may seem in your online research.
I think you can find yourself earning or having the potential earning that you want sooner than you expect, but it has to come with a formula, approach, a system, something that’ll help get you beyond your current personal skill sets, your abilities, etc.
Recipe
I know you probably hear a lot of gurus online that say, “Hey, you need to take massive action. You need to take action. You need to take action.”
Well, yes, you do need to take action, but that’s not always the hurdle, right? You may be sitting there thinking, “I would take action if someone just told me the next step!”
Many times, people just don’t have a recipe. It’s like me in the kitchen. For me and my family, we subscribe to the meal preparation services like Hello Fresh or Blue Apron, where they literally ship you all the groceries and the recipes to your door. All you have to do is take action, right? No figuring out dinner plans, no grocery shopping. Just take action in the kitchen. Follow the recipe. Turn the oven on and cook.
That’s what I want you to have by the end of this post. A neatly packed recipe with instructions and a place to cook.
How to Find the Best Product With High Ticket Affiliate Programs
Going after the right affiliate program to promote can mean the difference between making $1,000 per month or $10,000 per month.
The truth is, super affiliates are successful because they don’t mess around wasting their time promoting low-ticket products. But finding a high ticket product to promote isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Here’s a list of criteria I recommend referring to as you search for your affiliate marketing opportunity.
Commission Structure
If you are looking for high ticket affiliate programs, it’s a given that the commission structure is the first line of consideration. While it is important to consider the percentage amount of the commission, and how much you receive per sale, what is more important is that you promote a product with recurring commissions. In other words, promote a product that operates on a subscription business model. If you can lock in customers on a recurring commission, that ensures that you will be making a predictable income each month instead of relying on just one off sales.
Cookie Policy
When considering which affiliate opportunity is best, don’t forget to consider the lifetime of the cookies. The rule of thumb is the longer cookies last, the better. When someone clicks on your affiliate link, they will get “cookied.” It doesn’t matter if they buy right then and there or not. Depending on how long the cookie lasts, they can come back and purchase through a different link, but if they have your cookie YOU still get the commission.
Some of the top paying affiliate programs offer cookies that last as long as 6 to 12 months, some even offer lifetime cookies. Also, cookie policies differ in terms of sale attribution. It’s important to know these terms. For instance, some affiliate programs attribute a purchase to the last affiliate link while others to the first affiliate link.
In short, knowing your affiliate’s program cookie policy will very much determine the strategy in which you market your product.
Quality & Popularity
Don’t be blinded by high commission affiliate programs. Look at the quality of their products and if enough people are buying it. Look at product reviews, blogs, etc that will give you an honest answer of how well the product or service is doing. If no one’s buying the product, you’re wasting your time.
Upsells & Bonuses
Something else that is important to consider is if the product or service you are promoting has upsells and bonuses. Upsells can quadruple your initial commissions for the same amount of effort.
Successful affiliate marketers always look for products with upsells.
Upsells are like the gum and candy at the checkout line of the grocery store. It’s offers that your customer will be presented with as they check out.
For example, let’s say there is an affiliate product and it is a $99 ebook. The affiliate program also offers other products like a coaching program that usually costs hundreds to thousands of dollars.
As an affiliate, you aren’t just getting a commission for the sold ebook, but also for the coaching program.
Two-Tier Commission
A second-tier commission structure allows you to earn not only from your referrals but also from your referrals’ referrals. This criterion isn’t necessarily a must, but what a huge money-making opportunity for you as an affiliate.
How to Create the Best Offer With High Ticket Affiliate Programs
Once you find an affiliate program you want to be a part of, here’s my advice on creating offers with high ticket affiliate programs.
#1 The Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
The Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs is an illustration of human needs. Restaurants will always be in business because it addresses the basic need of food, but if you address a higher need your business becomes less of a commodity and more of a premium.
Which is why just about ALL funnels, or businesses, address one of the three categories:
- Health
- Wealth
- Relationships
Think about it; people who are asking the question, “What’s my purpose in life?” and wanting their psychological and self-actualization needs met are going to pay more for that than a meal.
In your affiliate marketing efforts, create your offer around how a certain product or service can give your customer more time, more money, enrich relationships, and they won’t be able to refuse.
If you’re trying to get into affiliate marketing and don’t even know what niche to start with, dive into one of those three categories. That’s where your customers are because that’s where people’s bleeding neck pains are. If you already have a business and you’re trying to launch a new line of revenue, these three categories are where its at.
However, know that going up higher in this hierarchy also means your customer audience narrows.
#2 Improvement Offers Don’t Sell
People don’t want an improvement. They want a new opportunity.
Know your audience and know their bleeding neck pain. Know that maybe some of them have tried a million different things that haven’t worked. They don’t want to try something “better” they want to try something completely new. They want something that works.
You have to position your offer and hook around a new vehicle that will take them to their health, wealth or relationship goals. So as you promote a product or service as an affiliate, don’t advertise it as something better, advertise it as the newest and best solution.
So, if you are promoting an improvement offer and you’re not making the money you want, now you know why.
#3 Social Proof, Social Proof, Social Proof
If you’re not using social proof for every part of your offer, you are leaving money on the table. People don’t want to be improved upon, but they do want to see results, and if they’re smart, they want to know results are possible before investing in your offer.
If you have a product, course, service, etc…and you have an offer stack showing the immense value to your customer or prospect, use a story to reinforce every deliverable you have. Customer testimonials are great for this. If you can get happy customers to share their story on your website or blog of how the product you promote has changed their lives or business, your golden. No pun intended.
This will create such a torrent of value in the mind of the prospect, that the price will actually transform into a very affordable price to them. Then, price objections or sticker shock will never keep your business from growing again.
